Why Josephine Rapha - Eli Pediatric Lymphoma Trust?

Due to the significant threat and increasing incidence of this disease among children, especially those from low-income backgrounds, which notably includes Tanzania, it has become apparent that there is a need for a vessel that will not only be used to provide training and educate the community about lymphoma but will also serve as a crucial platform connecting people worldwide to undertake three major tasks…

About the disease

What is Lymphoma Cancer?

Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects white blood cells called lymphocytes. It develops when one’s lymphocytes grow out of control. Lymphocytes are part of your immune system, which fights infection. Lymphoma is therefore a type of blood cancer, but it can also be referred to as a cancer of the immune system. It is a cancer of lymphocytes.

Lymphoma is called the cancer of the lymphatic system because it is formed from Lymph glands or Lymph nodes. In Lymphoma a tumor develops due to abnormal and out-of-control growth of abnormal lymphocytes.

The lymphatic system exists throughout the body as a network and involves many organs. Healthy lymphocytes travel around your body in the Lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system.

Lymphoma encompasses a variety of cancers specific to the lymphatic system, an important network of glands and vessels that make up the body’s immune system, our main line of defense against disease.

There are two main categories of lymphoma:
1. Hodgkin and
2. Non-Hodgkin (NHL).
