How Does Lymphoma Cancer Develop?
Lymphoma develops when lymphocytes grow out of control. They divide in an abnormal way or don’t die when they should, causing a group of lymphocytes to build up. Some people with conditions that affect their immune system have a higher risk of developing lymphoma. This includes people with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and those who have had an organ transplant. Lymphoma as a disease is not contagious and you can’t give it to other people. Most of the time, there is no family history of lymphoma.
The Lymphoma General Symptoms
1. Swollen lymph nodes: The most common sign of Lymphoma is a lump or bumps. A bump on the neck area, armpit, groin or a hard palate. These lumps/bumps are swollen lymph nodes, sometimes known as ‘glands’. In the beginning they usually are painless. Most people get to know about their disease while very late in stage because of this.
2. Fatigue: Fatigue means feeling very tired with no major reason. This just happens even if you haven’t done hard work or have any tension. It is that feeling of exhaustion with no major reason at all. This feeling persist for a long time and so becomes bothersome.
It gives a person a feeling of being washed out after doing very little. Sometimes it becomes very hard to wake up early in the morning because one feels very tired.
3. Weight Loss: Losing a lot of weight quickly without trying to. One can still lose weight while eating well and exercising normally. Though this is one of the Lymphoma symptoms. It does not happen to all Lymphoma patients. Some because of how they eat, they either gain weight or keep their weight constantly.
4. Infections: Getting infections more easily and often while having difficulty getting rid of them. Infectious diseases become part of your life.
5. Night Sweats: Lymphoma makes you sweat a little more than usual and more often. If they happen at night, they are more severe to an extent that it can make your bed sheets soaking wet. You wake up for a night break and find out that you are totally wet. This happens mostly during the very high stage of the disease.
6. Itching: This type of itching normally is without a rash it is called Pruritus. You crazily have itching feelings on the areas like thigh, shin and arm. This is not always the case but it can be a symptom of Lymphoma. It can be very uncomfortable, particularly when you get hot or live in a hot climate.
7. Fevers: Some people get high fever now and then for no known reasons. This is because of the infections that happen in your body without your knowledge. This kind of fever often comes together with night sweats and then the loss of weight follows.
8. Hot flush like symptoms: Having all the menopause symptoms even if you are postmenopausal age. These feelings happen to all genders.
9. Shortness of Breath: Depending on where the affected Lymph gland is situated, one can experience a very shortness of breath ( breathlessness), coughing uncontrollably and change in your breathing pattern.
10. Swelling of the face, neck and abdomen: These can also be some of the Lymphoma symptoms depending on the stage or the severity of the cancer itself. This is not specific but general symptoms.
